ETAPE CALEDONIA 2023

The 2023 Etape Caledonia is the 16th year of this well known closed road sportive, which is open to up to 5,000 participants.

Credited as being the first closed roads sportive in the UK, the 85 mile route (134km) takes in the beauty of Perthshire through forest line roads and rolling hills and is a memorable day on a bike.

Starting and finishing in Pitlochry, the highlights of the route include the beautiful Lochs Tummel and Ranoch and the famous climb of Schiehallion. Total climbing on the 85 mile route is 1,630 metres (5,347 feet).

Pitlochry Highland Games 2023

The Pitlochry Highland Games were one of the first re-established in Scotland, in 1852, as evidenced by an ormolu brooch which is inscribed:

History“Presented by Lady Feilden at the First Pitlochrie Highland Games to Mr Charles Duff of Dunavourdie as the Best Player on the Highland Bagpipes, 10th September 1852”.

Pitlochry highland nights

The Vale of Atholl Pipe Band Highland Nights will run every Monday from the end of May 2023 to the start of September 2023 from 7.30pm to 9.pm – gates open at 7pm .

Artists entertaining include singers, accordionists, Highland and Scottish Country Dancers and Border pipes and Guitar and the Pipe Band.

Indoor venue if wet will be the Town Hall.
Admission: Adults – £7, Children – £1. All tickets are purchased at the gate and car parking round the arena is free.

The Enchanted Forest

The Enchanted Forest festival with dazzling visuals and innovative design set against an original music score explore the stunning autumn woodland setting of Faskally Wood near Pitlochry. Using the forest as a natural backdrop, you will experience a lighting show that is, quite simply, out of this world.

The Enchanted Forest is renowned to be Scotland’s premier sound and light experience.

Atholl Gathering 2023 in Blair Atholl

The Atholl Gathering and Highland Games will return to Blair Castle on Sunday 28th May 2023.

The Atholl Highlanders officially open the Highland Games with a ‘March On’, led by the sound of their pipes and drums.

Strongmen from around Scotland take centre stage to battle it out. Events include tossing the caber, putting the shot and throwing the hammer.

Land Rover Blair Castle Horse Trials in Blair Atholl

Rover Blair Castle Horse Trials will at 24th – 27th AUGUST 2023 this year.

Eventing, or Horse Trials, is the ultimate equestrian challenge, likened to an equine triathlon; it provides a comprehensive test of all-round ability for horse and rider and also tests the partnership between the two. Despite being sometimes called ‘three-day eventing’, the modern sport usually takes place over four days, as the dressage phase takes two days to complete. However, each horse and rider combination will only compete in three phases, on three days, with a rest day on one of the dressage days.

The four-day event is a great family day out for all. With an abundance of food stalls such as Fox Hat, Lemon Squeezy and Persie Gin, there is also plenty of shopping if you’re looking for some retail therapy.
